Why Use Serialized Inventory?
TapGoods PRO offers Serialized Inventory to help you keep track of important Inventory at your business. When you add Serialized Inventory to the platform, you can scan the Serial Number or Barcode of Items to add them to Orders, Check Items In and Out, and add them to Maintenance. When you utilize Serialized Inventory, keeping track of your Inventory is easier than ever. TapGoods PRO offers three types of Items:
- Standard: Items that are not tracked by Serial Numbers. These will be manually added to Orders, checked out, etc.
- Serialized: When an Item is Serialized, each Unit is assigned a Serial Number. This is useful for high-value Items that you want to track individually [examples: tractors, speakers]. When you create a Serialized Item, Serial Numbers will generate automatically for each Unit. If desired, you can also assign your own serial numbers to Items.
- Serialized-Multiple: When an Item is Serialized Multiple, one Serial Number accounts for all Units. This is useful for Items that you want to track as a group [examples: napkins, plates]. When you create an Item that is Serialized-Multiple, only one Serial Number will generate automatically.
When you create Serialized Items in TapGoods PRO, you can track each unit of a Serialized Item by utilizing the following features:
- Create Serial Numbers for each unit
- Scan Serialized Items to Picklists
- Add specific units to Orders
- Track Usage of specific units
- Track Maintenance of specific units
