Daylights Saving Time and Routing in TapGoods PRO
In March and November, many time zones shift between Standard Time and Daylight Saving Time. This change affects the actual time, either moving it forward or backward by one hour. This switch can affect how pickups and drop-offs are displayed in our monthly view of the Routing Calendar.
What Time Zone is the Monthly View of the Routing Calendar?
To keep things straightforward, the monthly view of our routing calendar sticks to a single time zone. This means it doesn’t display both Standard and Daylight Saving Time within the same month. While this approach ensures consistency, it can cause some events close to the daily borderline to shift forward or back a day on the calendar.
Events scheduled around midnight are the main culprits for this day shift. Depending on the time zone in effect (Standard vs. Daylight), an event might technically belong to two different days. Because of this, we encourage our clients to be extra aware of events taking place around the time change.
How Should You Prepare for Daylight Savings?
Although the time change during Daylight Saving may impact the Routing Calendar Monthly View, the Single-Day View of our Routing Calendar shows all orders according to their individual Time Zone.
To navigate to the single-day view, follow the steps listed below:
- Hover over Operations on the TapGoods PRO menu.
- In Routing, click Map.
- On the Routing Map, click on the Calendar and select the date you want to see.
- All Deliveries taking place on the configured date will populate.
We understand that navigating time zone changes can be a bit puzzling. Our goal is to make your planning process as smooth as possible, even when the clocks decide to jump around. Remember, if you ever spot something that looks off in the month view during March or November, a quick check of the single-day view will set things straight.
