Editing Items in TapGoods PRO
Once you have added an Item to TapGoods PRO, you can add detailed information to it. The information necessary to create an Item in TapGoods PRO is the Name, Quantity, and at least one method of Pricing for the Item. Although the requirements to create an Item are minimal, you can add as many details as needed to the Item that will help Customers understand all aspects of the product.
In Edit Item, you can edit three sections:
- Images & Specs
- Details
- Timing & Numbers
Once you have edited each section to your preference, click Submit to save the changes to the Item. Read the sections below for details of each section available while editing your Items.
Images & Specs
TapGoods PRO users can customize images, colors, materials, and SEO categorizations that are associated with Items in their Inventory. The following options are provided to users who want to create a comprehensive and detailed Inventory…
- Images: Click the plus icon to add images. You can add up to four images of an Item.
- Colors: This field allows users to provide customers with color options for the Item. You can add multiple colors to an Item by clicking on each color that you would like to add. Colors that have already been added will display a checkmark.
- Materials: If an Item is made of variations of materials, add those details to this field (i.e. cotton, satin, etc.).
- Dimensions: Using this field, provide Customers with measurements of the Item (i.e. height, width, and weight).
- Item Notes: If any details must be noted about the Item that should not be included in the Description, you can add those details in the Item Notes by filling in the text field provided.
- SEO Meta Data: This is how your Inventory will be described in search results. You can customize what will appear to customers who are searching for the product. Users can also provide keywords that apply to the Item.
Details
Item Details are important to provide for Customers as well as internal employees who need information on a particular Item. Filling out the Item Details section of the Add Item page will provide essential details such as…
- Item Type: TapGoods PRO offers Standard, Serialized, and Multiple Serialized Inventory. Select which type of Item is being uploaded here.
- Name: Give each Item a unique name.
- Description: Use this section to provide a detailed description of the Item. This description will be available for Customers to read on Storefront.
- Tags: Add tags to the Item to make it easier to categorize and find in Reports.
- Departments: If an Item belongs to a particular Department within your company, you can add Departments to the Item.
- Warehouse Location: TapGoods PRO users can add a Warehouse Location for Items that are located in different Warehouses. Notes can be added as well for internal workers who need details on the Item!
Timing & Numbers
It is important to ensure that Items are properly priced and Itemized for Inventory. Using the Timing & Numbers section of the Add Item page, users can add…
- Quantity: Users will use this section to add the amount of each Item that is available to the Inventory count. In this section, users will provide an amount of the Item and can add a Buffer % (a percentage of the Inventory that is not available for the particular Item).
- Buffer %: To set a percentage of the Item that is unavailable at all times.
- Pricing: Users will use this section to set a price for the Item. Set a default Pricing for the Item by clicking the dropdown arrow and selecting Time-Based or a Flat Rate.
**Note: You can only select a Pricing Default that has already been added to the Item. For example, if you want to select a Flat Fee as the Default Pricing, a Flat Fee must already be applied to the Item.**
TapGoods PRO offers Time Based Pricing for Items that will be billed according to the amount of time that the Items are used, and a Flat Price according to how many of the Items are ordered.
- Taxes and Exemption: If a particular Item has a tax associated with it, or is tax-exempt, this section can be used to input the tax and it will automatically be added to Orders that include the Item. Additionally, you can make Items Tax Exempt and exclude the Item from Damage Waiver Fees.
- Costs: If there are any wholesale costs associated with the Item, they should be inputted into this section. Users can also input a lifespan for the Item, which will assist in calculating the total profit netted from the product.
- Lifespan: This is the average life of an Item.
- Turnover: Some Items in TapGoods PRO may require an amount of time to pass after it has returned from a rental before the Item may be rented again; this is known as an Item’s turnover time. To input a turnover time, type the desired number of days/hours into the text field and use the dropdown menu to select Hours or Days.
- Usage Units: If the usage of an Item needs to be tracked, you can add the unit here. It is important to note that only Serialized Inventory can have Usage tracked.
