Step 1: Set Up PaymentsÂ
To receive payments from your customers, you’ll need to get your payment gateway approved. This can take up to 14 business days, so submit your LaunchPay application as soon as possible!
- Look for your LaunchPay application email from
payments@tapgoods.com - Need help? Check out the Merchant Guide or reach out to your onboarding specialist.
- Once approved, run a test payment to confirm everything is set up correctly.
Step 2: Configure Your Admin Settings
TapGoods works best when your core settings are dialed in. These settings define how orders flow, how your brand looks, and how customers experience your store. Here’s what to configure:
Business Info & BrandingÂ
These shape your account and customer-facing experience.
- Location Settings – Set your business address, contact email, and logo.
- Email Automation & Styling – Customize customer-facing emails with your branding.
- Customer Portal Styling – Match your Storefront’s logo and color to your brand.
Ordering, Checkout, and PaymentsÂ
These affect how orders are created, quoted, and finalized.
- Legal Agreement – Upload your terms and require the customer's signature at checkout.
- Deposit Requirements – Choose whether to collect security deposits and how much to charge.
- Delivery Settings – Set your delivery zones, minimums, and fees to save time quoting later.
- Sales Tax – Set up how sales tax is calculated.
- Financial Settings - How and when the system recognizes your revenue.
Step 3: Add Your Inventory
This is where the magic starts. Your items power every quote and order, so getting them in is key. You can upload everything at once or add them one by one — whatever works for you.
Understanding Inventory Types
In TapGoods PRO, there are three types of Inventory:
- Items: Anything you rent.
- Accessories: Internal inventory not visible to customers.
- Purchases: Items you sell, not rent.
 Manually Entering Inventory
If you do not have a ton of inventory to upload to the platform, you may choose to manually upload each item. In this case, you will simply create Items, Accessories, and/or Purchases one by one within your account.Â
Bulk Importing Inventory
If you have a lot of inventory that you would like to upload to TapGoods PRO, you can do so with our items, accessories, and purchases import feature.
If you purchased onboarding support, just send your inventory spreadsheet to your onboarding specialist, and we’ll take it from there.Â
If you are independently uploading inventory, you should always use a TapGoods Import Template to upload inventory to our system. Please read the following articles to completion before getting started.Â
Once you have your inventory in a TapGoods Import Template, you are ready to bulk import! Check out these short guides on how to bulk import inventory:
Step 4: Add Your Contacts
Your contacts power every order. Adding them now makes it easy to assign quotes, deliveries, and invoices to the right people and places later.
Understanding Contact Types
There are three types of contacts in TapGoods PRO:
- Customers: The individual placing or receiving the order.
- Companies: The organization the customer works for (optional but helpful for B2B orders).
- Venues: The physical location where an event or rental will take place.
