Domain Verification Steps for using custom FROM: addresses
If you want to send emails from TapGoods PRO using your own custom domain, you must verify that domain to ensure your emails reach your clients' inboxes.
For those who prefer to remove the TapGoods branding and use their own custom domain, you’ll need to go through an authorization process to ensure emails are delivered correctly.
However, if you’re fine with using the default TapGoods email address, which looks like this: replyonly@{yourdomain}.tapgoods.com), you do not need to complete any verification steps.
In this article, the following topics will be covered:
- What is domain verification?
- Who needs to complete domain verification?
- How do you complete domain verification?
What is Domain Verification?
Domain verification is the process of proving that you own the custom domain you're using to send emails from TapGoods PRO. This ensures that email providers like Gmail, Yahoo, and others recognize your emails as legitimate and not spam.
Without domain verification, emails sent from your custom domain are more likely to be blocked or sent to spam folders. This happens because email providers need to confirm that the domain sending the emails is authorized to do so.
By verifying your domain, you’re telling email providers that TapGoods PRO is allowed to send emails on your behalf, improving email deliverability and ensuring your clients receive important communications.
Here’s how domain verification works with three key standards:
-
SPF (Sender Policy Framework): SPF allows you to specify which servers are permitted to send emails from your domain, helping email providers verify that your emails are from an authorized source.
-
DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail): DKIM adds a unique digital signature to each email, confirming that the email hasn’t been altered in transit and that it’s truly from your domain.
-
DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance): DMARC ties SPF and DKIM together, telling email providers how to handle emails that fail SPF or DKIM checks, helping to prevent email fraud and improving security.
Who Needs to Complete Domain Verification?
Domain verification is required for any TapGoods PRO user who wants to "white label" their emails—meaning, if you want to remove the TapGoods branding and send emails using your own custom domain, you will need to complete this process.
TapGoods has already verified our own domain (tapgoods.com), so if you’re using the default TapGoods email (e.g., replyonly@{yourdomain}.tapgoods.com), no further action is needed. However, since we cannot send emails on behalf of your custom domain without authorization, clients who wish to use their own branding must verify their domain to ensure proper delivery.
